These Top 5 Responses Surprised Even Us!

Friday, May 23rd, 2014

From April 25th through the 29th, MyProViewer was at the AAO 2014 Convention in New Orleans. We met some amazing people, had a great time and a very successful trip!

“Do You Have a Television In Your Waiting Room?”

Waiting Room Televisions with MyProViewerOur question to orthodontists was a simple one. The follow up to the initial question, “What do you display on your TV?”, had some surprising answers!

Here are the top five responses and why some of them surprised even us.

#5 – Movies

This answer isn’t surprising. Most orthodontist waiting rooms are filled with children, pre-teens, and teenagers. Movies are a safe route to take. They keep patients happy but add zero value to your practice.

#4 – Power Points

If you have a HIGHLY creative employee on staff that also happens to know EVERYTHING there is to know about Power Point, then this may be a solution for your waiting room television. However, the real question is: Do you have time to spare this employee for that type of project?

Powerpoint is a time consuming project even for a seasoned veteran. It may be an effective marketing strategy, but you have to weigh the time consumption against your return. Keeping those slides up to date requires a lot of time and effort.

#3 – I Don’t Have A TV

In the competitive market that the dental and orthodontic world has become, staying cutting edge is paramount.

Building brand loyalty with the younger generation is a must for referrals and repeat business. Teens today are loyal to things that feel new, fresh, and cutting edge. Without electronics in your waiting room, you may be missing out on appealing to everyone that comes through your waiting room.

#2 – Cable TV

While this answer is not surprising in the least, it was a two fold answer.

Almost all doctors that showed Cable TV in their waiting room, also said they didn’t want to be showing it. They just didn’t know what other options were out there.

#1 – I Have A TV But We Don’t Use It

“Our TV doesn’t even get turned on”….. This answer surprised me!

Keep Your Television Up To Date

The thing that gets me with all of these answers, is that these orthodontists are missing out on some incredible opportunities! Think about it for a moment. Pre-teens and teenagers are the most active on social media sites and the most likely to engage in a contest or giveaway.

They are also the most likely to tell their teenage friends (that may need braces themselves) about your office if you are keeping them engaged in your practice and creating brand loyalty.

MyProViewer can be utilized for all of the above with some easy programming and minimal time from you or your staff. We are in a fast paced business with little time to spare, so don’t waste yours trying to figure out how to market your waiting room.

We do that for you!

Marketing: It’s all about Location, Location, Location

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

You may be wondering why an inbound marketing expert is talking about the well-known realtor quip about location being the most important feature of a house. Well, for you dentists and orthodontists, location IS inherently important to the success of your practice.

And if it’s important to your professional success, then it should be important to your marketing plan too! (Wait, you have a marketing plan, right?)

marketing local

Your Industry’s Limitations

The limitations on the dental and orthodontic field, as well as many others, are that it is highly competitive. The neighborhood where your practice is established will greatly affect the kind of patients that you can attract and keep.

People want their visits to these offices to be convenient and will therefore, choose locations that are close to their homes, offices, or children’s schools.

As I’m sure you already know, just a few streets over (or maybe not even that far), is another practice offering similar services. So, why should they choose you over that other practice?

Your Industry’s Possibilities

The great thing is, that you can use it to your advantage. Don’t look at it as being stuck in a neighborhood or part of the city – really become an expert of that area. Become a fixture in your part of town.

But How?

I’m sure you understand at least part of ‘the Why’ behind emphasizing your location in your marketing plan. Now let’s talk a little bit about how to do that.

  • Your Name

You’ve obviously already chosen a name for your business, so there isn’t much more you can do here. But, if you used the city, neighborhood, or street in your name, use it frequently and even play it up a little. This will help them remember not just who you are, but where you are and that gives you a place in their mental map. It’s one more way to be memorable. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, don’t have an established local name recognition, and are flush enough with liquid capital to do so- consider rebranding.

  • Your Keywords

In case you aren’t too familiar with keywords, in a nutshell, they are the words that potential customers are likely to type into Google’s search engine to find your business information and website. Using local keywords is a savvy way to position yourself as the premier option for folks in your area. Be sure to include these keywords on your website and in your digital marketing material.

  • Your Community

Participating in your community is a wonderful way to be recognized as a great local business. You can sponsor events, give back, or simply be a resource for spreading the word about local happenings. If the patients who come to your practice feel a connection to their community through you, their chances of staying loyal to you will increase exponentially.

  • Your Practice

This is a very physical and substantial way of looking at “being local” in your business, whereas many of these others have been a little more cerebral. In a very real way, you can infuse your practice with local dental or orthodontic marketing. Include not only national magazines and publications, but local ones in your waiting room. Add a newsfeed for local news, or have weather updates on your waiting room TV. Even the pictures you hang on your walls can be of local landmarks.

People like being connected to businesses and locations through fun, entertainment, and good service. If you are doing your best to be an outstanding dentist or orthodontist and include these tips on highlighting your local ties, then you are sure to connect to your patients on more than just an oral health level.

And connecting is really what turns a prospective patient into a loyal client!

Relax. More customers are on the way.

What Does Your Website Say About You?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014

It’s a reality that much of our dental and orthodontic world has gone online. There are many great things that come from this!

7 Essential Reasons You Need a Website

  1. To be found! If you aren’t online, your dental patients will have a much harder time finding you.

  2. Patients will trust you more readily. Fleishman-Hillard did a survey that found that 89% of consumers research products and services online before making a purchase.

  3. A website helps you manage your online reviews and post testimonials. If patients find nothing but other people’s comments about you on various sites, how will they know where you really stand on various dental issues?

  4. Your competitor has a website. We certainly don’t want you to fall into the “everyone else is doing it” mentality, but this is one situation where you should!

  5. You are now available 24 hours without being in the office. Let’s say one of your patients bites into something at the dinner table and chips a tooth. If you wrote a blog post about this topic, it could answer their question about what they should do immediately, and what can wait until tomorrow morning when you are in the office.

  6. You can easily track the ROI of a website. At the end of the day your dental practice is a business and you need to know what the return is on all of your investments.

  7. Your marketing is incomplete without one. As a bonus, you now have access to a very inexpensive form of marketing!

Build a Cohesive Brand

Your website, like anything else you do for your practice, needs to be done right. Having an old and outdated website is not going to be as beneficial as the doctor down the street who has a visually appealing and modern website.

MyProViewer Website

Making sure your website is up to date can attract patients for your practice. As well, when patients come into your office for the first time, it is important to WOW them.

Imagine the WOW factor that comes when that new patient walks in and sees a sleek, modern space with a state-of-the-art waiting room TV filled with original content specific to your practice.

Having a cohesive image from the moment a patient finds you online, to the moment they leave your office happy and satisfied makes for repeat patients. Those patients hopefully will have loved their experience so much, that they will willingly give you testimonials. Testimonials in which you can convert to more original content for your MyProViewer system.

Here at MyProViewer, we make it easy to keep your waiting room updated and current. Our state-of-the-art system is simple to update with new fresh content. That way, when your patient comes back for their next visit, they will have something new to watch while waiting for their appointment.

What Will 95% of Your Patients Do?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2014

Patient testimonials are a very valuable resource for any dentist or orthodontist. With the multitude of providers available to patients in any community, it is more important than ever to stay up-to-date and show those potential future clients why you are the right doctor for them. How better to do this than through the words of other patients?

3 Easy Steps to Get a Great Testimonial

Here are 3 easy steps we at MyProViewer have gathered over the course of our business to get those elusive testimonials.

1. Give Great Service

We know this part sounds like common sense, and it is. Mostly.

If you are not providing great service to your dental or orthodontic patients from the moment they walk through the front door until they say goodbye to the receptionist on their way out, there’s a decent chance they will give feedback. Unfortunately, it won’t be the sort of feedback that brings business.

Did you know that 95% of patients will share a bad experience, while only 87% will share a good one, according to a Zendesk recent survey? What this means for you is, no skipping step #1.

2. Choose People With a Great Story About You

We have an orthodontist client who recently called to request directions for posting a great new testimonial on his MyProViewer screen.

While sharing this information, we asked him what the testimonial said. It surprised us when he told me he had actually made a mistake with this patient! However, he went out of his way to make it right.

The orthodontist’s patient was so blown away by the great treatment the doctor gave while making up for the error, they immediately gave him a testimonial! While we don’t recommend making mistakes, if you do, just make sure and make them right.

3. ASK For a Testimonial!

This final step is sometimes the hardest for people. Although, If we think about it, how will they know to give you a testimonial if you don’t ask?

Asking can come in various forms. One great method is to include a reminder on your appointment card for them to go online and review your services.

Of course, our favourite method is to have your testimonials playing on your MyProViewer waiting room TV. This triggers patients to ask about it, which opens the door to say, “would you like to leave one as well?

How do You Take Advantage of Testimonials?

The dictionary defines testimonials as “a written declaration certifying to a person’s character, conduct, or qualifications”. With such a powerful tool at your disposal what do you do with it?

Show it off, of course! It is not easy to get those great patient testimonials, so don’t file them away! MyProViewer offers you an easy solution to showing those testimonials to all your other patients in the waiting room.

After you have uploaded that great new testimonial to your MyProViewer content, don’t forget to also publicize it on your website or social media sites. The more people that see it, the better!

MyProViewer Is Looking For You!

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014

We love our customers and our customers love us!

I don’t say this to brag. I say this because I am on the hunt!

Patti On a Mission

I was so excited about a phone call I recently received. A dentist in the Tampa area called to inquire about our services.

I always make a point to ask how new clients heard about us. The doctor informed me that he had recently seen a presentation in which the speaker had gone into great detail about our service and everything it had done for his practice.

I was thrilled, but the information presented a dilemma – I had a promise to fulfill.

MyProViewer had not scheduled any presentations in the Tampa area recently, so I didn’t know who had referred this new client. Who should I thank for this?!?

Our MyProViewer Promise

We consider referrals very serious business. That’s why we reward any client that sends a referral our way with 3 additional months of service – at no cost!

So the question is: Am I looking for you? Whoever you are, you’ve got a thank you coming!

5 Tips for Writing an Excellent Professional Bio

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

One of our favorite features of MyProViewer is the full screen wizard tool! This is where doctors or other staff members can add in information about themselves to share with patients and others who visit the waiting room.

MyProViewer WritingWhy share?

When you’re creating the environment for your office waiting room, it’s important to remember that your patients want to feel comfortable and are interested in building a relationship with the staff there-particularly their dentist or orthodontist.

The bio is a perfect way to begin developing this relationship. It gives newcomers a chance to check out your credentials and gives returning patients the opportunity to get to know more about you.

How do I write a good bio?

Writing a good bio can be tricky. It needs to entertain the reader to keep their interest while educating them with valuable information. Here are 5 quick tips on how to write an excellent bio for your MyProViewer content.

  1. Write in 3rd person: Your bio should be styled as if someone was writing it about you, even if it was you who penned it. This makes the bio more professional and appropriate for a wide array of audiences.

  2. Make it quick: Readers these days have short attention spans. The best way to guarantee the reader will read and retain the information is to keep it to about 150-200 words!

  3. Get personal: Add in some interesting facts about yourself–things your patients might not already know. This makes it more intriguing and gives you more personality in the minds of your patients.

  4. Highlight your credentials: Of course, having fun personal information is important, but don’t forget to talk about WHY you are qualified to be their dentist or orthodontist. Touch on where you went to school and notable awards and achievements.

  5. Off to a good start: The first few words are the most important because people will decide if content is worth reading in the first few moments. Take the most interesting and impressive and get off to a good start with your bio!

Now what?

Now that you’ve worked hard on crafting the perfect professional bio, you’re ready to share it with the world! There are a multitude of uses for a solid professional bio, but by far one of the most useful places you can put it is in your MyProViewer content.

Adding the bio to your content will allow you to begin the development of a relationship with your patient from their first visit!
